Routinizing head nurses’s dominant behavior in managing units: qualitative study

Abstract: Introduction: Today, knowledge management among various human knowledge's, may be one of the most important, complex and difficult current knowledge. Head nurses' role in improving quality nursing care is inevitable. So, assessing their perception about their selves' performances would be helpful in roles' development. Aim: This study was done for explaining how head nurses managing their units, in 2014. Methods and materials: This qualitative study was done by qualitative content analysis approach which 25 head nurses participated who selected purposively. The data were gathered by unstructured interviews and continued until data saturation. The data were analyzed process of content analysis Graneheim and Lundmen. Results: During the data analysis four main themes were generated "documenting current affairs of unit " following current affairs of unit", " valuing of current affairs of unit " and" recognizing current affairs of unit", these are showed that in managing units by head nurses' routinizing is dominant behavior. .Conclusions: Routinizing in managing units by head nurses represent limited their role playing that they behaved for sustaining situation. It would be noticeable by continuous monitoring by superior nurse managers as a necessary plan.
