Introduction and purpose: The development of empathic communication skills as a vital element in human relations is of great importance and is influential in various fields of personal and professional life. These skills improve one's ability to understand, analyze and respond to the feelings and needs of others and lead to better, deeper and more effective communication. In workplaces, empathic communication can help increase job satisfaction, strengthen team collaboration, and improve the overall performance of organizations. Also, in educational fields, this skill strengthens the motivation and learning of students. In general, developing empathic communication skills will not only help improve interpersonal relationships, but will also lead to the formation of a more empathetic and committed society. Therefore, according to the importance of the subject, the present research was conducted with the aim of presenting a model of developing empathic communication skills using the content analysis technique among professors and faculty members of Lorestan University of Medical Sciences. Methodology: The research method is of a qualitative type with a content analysis approach. For the in-depth study of the desired concepts, the method of document study and theoretical basis analysis as well as semi-structured interviews were used. The participants were 10 faculty members and lecturers with a long history in Lorestan University of Medical Sciences in the academic year of 1402-1403, who were selected using the purposeful sampling method and the snowball method up to the limit of theoretical saturation. Inductive content analysis technique was used in data analysis. To check the validity of the findings, the member review method was used. To determine the reliability, the reliability method between two coders (intra-subject agreement) was used. Findings: The findings showed empathic communication skills in four categories; Cognitive skills, emotional skills, moral skills and behavioral skills are discussed. These components can be used to improve the performance of the health system, education and treatment in the universities of medical sciences of the province. Conclusion: By strengthening cognitive, emotional, moral and behavioral skills, professors and faculty members will be able to establish more effective communication with their students and colleagues and ultimately improve the quality of educational and therapeutic services. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the development of these skills to achieve educational and health goals in universities.
