Abstract
Introduction: At present, in our country nursing uniform is different in color and design in many units of hospitals. So, it is confusing patients in identifying kind of nurse staff from others personnel in hospitals. For changing in color and similarity in nursing uniform, it is necessary nurses' viewpoint about their color of uniform assess.
Aim: The aim of this study was assessing nurses' view point about color of nursing uniform in country, in 2014.
Method: this study was descriptive cross- sectional that assessed (5735) nurses' viewpoint in all over the country. Samples were nurses, head nurses, supervisors, and operating room technicians who are working in hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. Sampling method was cluster sampling. Data were gathered by questionnaire that had 20 questions in two parts demographic characteristics and nurses' views about nursing uniform color. The data were analyzed with SPSS16 software.
Results: The results indicated that nursing uniform colors in intensive care units (26/9%)blue, in pediatric units (12/5%) pink and in the emergency units (19/4%) white were selected by nurses Also, colors based on the organizational posts were white for LPN(56/3%), green for operation room (34/6%) and anesthesia (24/1%) technicians and navy for nurses (45/9%), head nurses (50/1%), supervisors (47%) and matrons (49/5%).After theses colors, white color were suggested for nurses.
Conclusion: It suggested that two colors navy, white and blended of them would be used for the nurses' uniforms. Also, blue for nurses in intensive units, pink for pediatric units and white for emergency units would be used.
