Introduction: Parents of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) face various challenges that can affect their quality of life. Understanding the factors influencing the quality of life of these parents can contribute to improving their psychological and social well-being.
Method: This descriptive-correlational study was conducted on all parents of hyperactive children aged 6 to 11 in the city of Rasht during the academic year 2022. Sampling was done using convenience sampling, and data were collected using the Barton Communication Skills Questionnaire (1990), World Health Organization Quality of Life questionnaire (WHO-QOL), and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (2003). Data analysis was performed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods (correlation analysis and multiple regression) with SPSS software.
Results: The results indicated a significant relationship between effective communication pattern, resilience, and emotional intelligence with the quality of life of parents of children with ADHD. These variables explained 38% of the variance in the quality of life of these parents.
Conclusion: The findings underscore the importance of enhancing communication skills, resilience, and emotional intelligence in improving the quality of life of parents of children with ADHD. Strengthening these skills can help reduce parental psychological burden and enhance family relationships and better support for children with ADHD.
